Reaching constant 100 fps PC/Laptop - Optimal Settings
[As requested by GlazeD]

So you want constant 100 fps for Counter-Strike eh?

The following settings are the culmination of hours upon hours of research.
If you wish to have less fps drops and smoother recoil for your AK/m4 rifles, this guide is for you!

---------------------------------------------------------
Step 1

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings
1) Under "Adjust Image Settings With Preview" tab - select "Performance" in drag bar
Then, under "Manage 3D Settings" tab, do the following:
1) "Single display performance mode"
2) Texture Filtering Quality = "High Performance" (Important: Reduces input lag)
3) Make sure Vsync = Off

Complete list of Settings (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770):
Ambient Occlusion: Off
Ansiotropic filtering: Off
Antialiasing - FXAA: Off
Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On
Antialiasing - Mode: Off
Antialiasing - Setting: None
Antialiasing - Transparency: Off
CUDA - GPUs: All
Maximum pre-rendered frames: Use the 3D application setting. (If using a weak CPU, set to "1")
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Single display performance mode
Power management mode: Adaptive
Shader Cache: On
Texture filtering - Ansiotropic sample options: On
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow
Texture filtering - Quality: High Performance
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization: On
Threaded optimization: Auto
Triple buffering: Off
Vertical sync: Off

---------------------------------------------------------
Step 2

Go to your Control Panel for Windows and click Mouse Properties. Under the "Pointer Options" tab, make sure "Enhance pointer precision" is unchecked." This disables Windows mouse accel.

Checking Refresh Rate of Monitor
In Windows 7:
Right-Click Desktop > Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings > Tab: Monitor > 144hz Refresh Rate (or select highest Refresh Rate Possible. Most non-gaming monitors are 60-75hz)
**Note: The higher the Hz, the smoother the image in CS. Less horizontal screen-tearing in-game.

Main Topic Link: Subject: Launch Options

**Note: To open your launch options, go to your Steam Library and right-click Counter-Strike. Then select "Properties" and "Set Launch Options." Launch options are like a super console, where everything is on one line.
In your launch options copy-paste the following depending on your setup:

Launch Options for PC (144hz Gaming Monitor):
-noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -freq 144 -nomsaa +gl_ansio 0 +ex_interp 0 +zoom_sensitivity_ratio 1.0

-noforcemparms and -noforcemaccel gets rid of mouse acceleration
-freq X where X is your monitor's refresh rate.
(Most non-gaming monitors use -freq 60 for 60hz refresh rate.)
-nomsaa disables anti-aliasing which reduces input lag. Makes the AK shoot more 'crisp'
+gl_ansio 0 disables ansiotropic filtering
+ex_interp 0 auto-fixes your interp to the best value for the server. Should be .01 for most servers
+zoom_sensitivity_ratio X adjusts the sensitivity of your scoped rifles. Default is 1.2. Mine is .84

---------------------------------------------------------
Step 3

In your CS Options "Video" Tab:
- Renderer: OpenGL
- Display Mode: Normal
- Resolution: 640x480 or 800x600 (Do not go any higher than this resolution as it affects recoil.)
- "Run in a window" unchecked
- "Wait for vertical sync" unchecked
- "Enable HD models if available" unchecked
- "Low video quality" unchecked

In your CS Options "Mouse" Tab:
- Uncheck all items except for "Mouse look." Leave "Mouse look" as checked.

My Mouse: Razer Abyssus 2014
- 400 DPI, 500 Hz
- Windows OS: 6/11, Enhance pointer precision unchecked
- CS 1.6 in-game sensitivity: 2.80

In your CS "Multiplayer" first Tab:
- Crosshair size: Large (if using 640x480 resolution)
- Crosshair size: Medium (if using 800x600 resolution)

In your CS "Multiplayer" main tab, click "Advanced...":
- Smoke Gas Grenade sprite quality: Best looking, slowest
- Buy menu type: Old style menus
- "Center Player Names" checked
- "Automatically switch to picked up weapons (if more powerful)" unchecked
---------------------------------------------------------
Step 4

Main Topic Link: Subject: CS 1.6 Rates Guide

In your console:
rate 100000
fps_max 100.0
cl_updaterate 100
cl_cmdrate 105
hud_fastswitch 1
cl_dynamiccrosshair 0
cl_weather 0
m_rawinput 1
(Optional. Removes mouse acceleration)

I suggest setting m_rawinput 0 and using RInput.exe instead. Less input lag.
Download: http://fnatic.com/downloads/662
Everytime you start the game and join a server for the first time, run RInput.exe and type "hl.exe" without quotes in the command prompt, then press ENTER. You must do this each time you boot up CS, but the benefit outweighs the cost.
RInput.exe works for CSGO as well. Simply type "csgo.exe" without quotes in the command prompt instead.
---------------------------------------------------------
Step 5: Diagnostic

In console:
net_graph 3 [this turns on net_graph]

net_graph 0 [this turns off net_graph]
---------------------------------------------------------
Step 6: Config.cfg file to "Read-only"

I suggest setting your config.cfg file in your /cstrike folder to "Read-only" in case you join a toxic server.

In Windows 7:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life\cstrike
Right-click the "config.cfg" file > Properties > Attributes: "Read-only"
---------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for reading this guide. I hope I have helped you in your quest to achieve a constant, steady 100 fps.
Questions/feedback is appreciated!

Step 3 i done when i get home from work ill try other steps.
On a side note was hoping you can help me with. When i type war3menu too choose race i cant make out my exp or race names. I got too go off memory because they overlapped its like double printed over eachother each race name, exp.
Again not important but annoying.
Also i got fast switch console code too change guns faster. Since i put it in i notice a glitch start of every round gun auto reloads even with full clip. Too make matters worse i got too shoot one or two times too cancle reload or get gun shooting. If i dont preclick and run out gun wont shoot till i shoot like 2 times too get rid glitch.

"gl_texturemode gl_nearest"

All one line in console. Really cheesy way to improve your framerate. I can't imagine anybody would need this nowadays, but back in 2002 I needed to do it to improve my FPS. Warning, will make your game look like utter crap.

Wait, you guys are only playing at 100fps?

I'm usually closer to 300.

Build a fire for a man, you keep him warm that night.
Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm the rest of his life.

Yupp, all you need is 100fps and a 120hz+ monitor
fps_override 1 introduces input lag. CS 1.6 depends on your gaming monitor refresh hz more than anything.

That being said, CSGO is 300fps by default, going up to 999fps by setting fps_max 0, but that's another game. Might fry your PC over long periods of time.
