-[.40 cal ]- 24/7 DUST

I was playing on dust2_pup and I thought of somethin: What if we had a 24/7 Dust-themed server!!!

-[.40 cal ]- 24/7 DUST

Map Rotation:
- de_dust
- de_dust2
- de_karnak
- aim_map
- de_dust_40cal
- de_dust2_40cal
- de_dust2_pup

etc. more dust-themed maps.

the rules/weapons would be the same as the old-school Intermediate server.
I just know it, this server might be a hit! Well, what do you guys think? :D

Before I found .40cal I was a part of a community that had a 24/7 dust server, and yes it was usually full.


The upside is that it (in theory) will bring a lot of traffic. Both good (players, potential member, etc.) and bad (hackers, myg0t.)

The downside is that it is well... 24/7 Dust.

Also, people tend to disconnect a lot when the maps change to something different. Not to put down any 40cal maps, or any other dust-esque maps; but, generally most people that will join a 24/7 server will want to play dust2 and dust only. At least this is how it was like... 10 years ago, ish.

I haven't been in a 24/7 server in a very long time, so maybe things have changed and people like variety, but I doubt it.

24/7 dust2 servers are popular because it's a default map that everyone enjoys to an extent. Yeah, it does get boring, but you don't have to learn new maps or download them. The majority of them don't have mods so the registry tends to be better, and people enjoy that.
Mr itsm0bley agrees to reconnect to the server upon owning vigorously.

well yea, i guess the map rotation could be only the two classic dust maps:
de_dust
de_dust2

and yea, what everybody said. I just notice a lot of traffic on those type of servers :D

I have def noticed major traffic come in when any server hits dust2, which is why it seems to be the best idea to send any empty server to dust 2. But I have also noticed any form of dust2 seems to attract people, even the 40cal version or the pup version. might be worth finding a couple more similar (close to original) remakes and doing a 24/7 dust2 server, or 24/7 dust and dust2 with only very similar remakes.. and sending back to original dust or dust2 when empty.. I am sure it would attract people, and keeping a rotation of very similar maps would keep the 24/7 people happy and the people who get sick of playing just original dust2 constantly. Id also make it a map vote with original dust and dust2 always on the vote to keep people happy aswell.

Doing this would make what I think is the best 24/7 dust/dust2 map server ever. And yes I really think it would attract a crowd. I personally would be somewhat bored with it because I like custom maps but I remember the days when dust2 was all that was played and theres still people doing that.

I wanna make a dust 2 map with the sketch from the original drawings. (specifically the one on the right). thats some fun information to read though. Very interesting, I have created maps for red faction in the past and its a blast. It took me back to those days shooting people through the wall with the rail gun in sniper-city-Kazredux

Traffic is always good and I don't think we have to worry about too much of the negative from it, we have good admins here to take out the trash and hang out to the valuable players.
