Re: NO LAGGGGG
Bump Sammy. What are the costs for an upgrade?
MarioBros.: What about yourself?
DotA: eh I never count my self.
MarioBros.: Why?
DotA: Because I tend to think there is always someone better.
MarioBros.: Because you cant win in GG?

Re: NO LAGGGGG
it is not as simple as you think. I do not run 40cal from my garage. we have a host provider to support a 1000 gigaport speed with unlimited bandwith. when I purchased dedibox 4 years ago. I included quadruple ram from 8 to 32 with 8core cpu so we wouldn't have problems.DotA wrote:Bump Sammy. What are the costs for an upgrade?
an upgrade would be a big improvement. here are possibilities.
keeping the hard drive protecting our servers date and replacing the (4yo) cpu processor.
that price has yet to be determined. most likely they will want me to purchase a brand new dedibox for about $400.00 per month.
I used to pay 350 per mo but since the dedibox is 4yo, ive asked for discounts. it is now 250.
I rent on24 to mouse and his contribution is close to one 3rd.
ownx has done everything he can to cut back on high processed items. anymore and it wont be fun.
here is what I will do soon:
I will call the NOC datacenter reps b4 my sales rep and see if they do dedibox upgrades. I am sure they do.....infact they do whatever the sales rep says to do. they are 24hours a day. I like that coz when we were ddos attacked I got a call on my cell right away. but again they will try and talk me into a new box and not upgrade what we have.
I am officially gonna try some thing new right now:
xp is saved every round. I enabled xp to be saved after map changes.
wc3_save_end_round 0 // Save xp at the end of each round (may cause lag, default is 1)
that was set on 1.....it is now set to 0
for the time being:
report anything better or worse please!

Re: NO LAGGGGG
Wouldn't saving xp at end of maps cause anyone who leaves in the middle of the map to lose the xp they earned that map?

The only problem I see with that is people getting mad their XP didn't save like it use to.
BUT. Will give someone the incentive to stay the whole map.
But I'll take that argument all day because it's an easy fix.. Stay the whole map.
I would rather be able to play normally with no lag and deal with that question. Rather than not have an answer to the lag situation.
Granted if that helps the situation.
Possible backlash < Server running with no lag.
Re: NO LAGGGGG
Wouldnt it be easier to use"/savexp" or something like that? And let each player save their xp or would that cause more lag?

Re: NO LAGGGGG
we received a response from our host provider. as far as cost will be known very soon.DotA wrote:Bump Sammy. What are the costs for an upgrade?
40calgames
The NOC (Kyle Darnell) advised you’re needing to bump up your CPU to accommodate today’s processor-hungry online games.
Do you have an idea of what you need to add and what your budget is?
