-[.40 Cal ]- Games

When I decide to have a break from 40cal servers, I browse the community servers to see what is there. I find a de_dust2 server and I connect to it. When I connect, it lags, the server crashes, then it loads again. I pick a team and the annoying thing is the information box about the server just opens every time I close it. I disconnect and I play on a 40cal server.

This is all irrelevant. It's just backstory. But the the really annoying thing is that every time I connect to a 40cal or nD server, 30 seconds into the game, I am automatically redirected to these annoying, stupid and terrible servers that lag a lot. I just keep getting redirected again and again. The server is added to my favorites automatically and I can't seem to remove it. What do I do?

This is a little beyond my experience, but I think I would try resetting everything in steam to the default settings. If that didn't work, I would try deleting steam and reloading it. Hope you get it figured out. Keep us posted.

You may want to uninstall then reinstall. You may have corrupted files.

Open your config file and look for something that redirects you to those servers.
It usually is bound to a key with an IP.
The easy way is to delete your config file and connect to 40cal servers or the other servers you usually play.

After you delete your config, set it up with your settings again and then right click property, set it to read only to avoid that in the future.

Happens to me a lot...just uninstall and re-install STEAM
